BJJC Match-Report : 20th-Nov-2010: Weekend No 36

Date & Time :  20th Nov 2010 : 8-45 AM To 10-30 AM  : Play-Day No 35

Pitch & Conditions : A breezy & freezing cold morning started with -2C and went up to 8C with wind gusts upto 30 mph. A Wet Smooth Pitch , good bounce. Outfield Wet & Heavy. Max of 5 Players. A demoralizing turnout compared to the 20 players we got this summer.

Field Restrictions: Runs were not allowed on the off-side, behind the square. A line drawn between the fences through mid-pitch. Single batsman, three fielders - mid wicket, deep square leg and mid-on. A feet from the off-stump is a wide ball. No runs for wides. Marut played common in the first match, then joined Naveed XI. To balance the team, Kalpesh XI were given a chance to field a batsman twice!!

Teams

Naveed c, Mukund, Marut (common M1)
Kalpesh c, Ranjan

Match 1 : 2+1-P ; 5-Overs

Kalpesh XI: 8 all out (4 overs) Kalpesh 6 Naveed 2W
Naveed XI: 8 for no loss (5 Overs) Marut 4*
Result: Match tied

Report:
It was much harder to score runs as 3 fielders are cramped in the little scoring area. Then fun started during the chase. Marut scored 4 runs in the first 2 overs, Mukund scored 3 in the 3rd over. Two runs were needed in 2 overs. Marut bowled a maiden to Mukund and Naveed faced the last over from Kalpesh. With all his scoring areas are blocked by the restrictions, his big swings didn't connect the ball and failed to score the winning run!

Match 2 : 3-P ; 6-Overs

Kalpesh XI: 19/2 (6 overs) Ranjan 12* Naveed & Mukund 1W
Naveed XI: 9 all out (2.3 Overs) Naveed 6 Ranjan 2W
Result: Kalpesh XI won by 10 runs

Match 3 : 3-P ; 6-Overs

Naveed XI: 11 all out (2.5 Overs) Naveed 11 Ranjan 3W
Kalpesh XI: 15/2 (3.5 overs) Kaplesh 9* Mukund 2W
Result: Kalpesh XI won by 1 wicket with 2.1 overs remaining

Match 4 : 3-P ; 6-Overs

Kalpesh XI: 27/1 (6 overs) Kalpesh 18* Mukund 1W
Naveed XI: 9 all out (3.2 Overs) Mukund 7 Ranjan 2W
Result: Kalpesh XI won by 18 runs

Report: Match 2, 3 & 4 are very similar. Kalpesh and Ranjan bowled beautifully to deny any scoring opportunities and Ranjan had caught & bowled opportunities at will. Naveed, Mukund & Marut found it very difficult to take singles. Kalpesh XI scored 5 boundaries overall to Naveed XI's one boundary sums it all.

Series Result :
Kalpesh XI Win 3-0

BJJC Match-Report : 13th-Nov-2010: Weekend No 35

Date & Time :  13th Nov 2010 : 8-15 AM To 12-45 PM  : Play-Day No 34

Pitch & Conditions : A mild day started with 5C and went up to 18C. A Wet Smooth Pitch , good bounce. Outfield Wet & Heavy. Max of 15 Players.

Teams

Mukund c, Swagat, Rajesh, Aamir, Bala, Subu, Naveen
Naveed c, Vivek, Ranjan, Anil, Siva, Kalpesh, Nathan
Aditya (common)

Team composition: Naveed selected players in Pakistan way - strong bowlers who can bat, Mukund selected players in Indian way - power packed batting line up (Aamir, Rajesh, Naveen & Subu) who can bowl.

Match 1 : 6-P ; 7-Overs

Mukund XI: 40/3 (7 Overs) Rajesh 20*
Naveed XI: 35 all out (6.5 Overs) Kalpesh 10 Aamir 2W
Result: Mukund XI won by 5 runs

Report:
Naveed won the toss and opted fielding. Though players are drafted in the teams, they are late to the field and trickled as the match progressed. Swagat fell caught & bowled to Siva at the end of the first over. Rajesh and Mukund steadied the innings to post 40 in 8 overs.
Vivek and Ranjan opened the chase, scored decent to put 13/0 in 2 overs. Ranjan guided a Mukund's low full toss direct to the middle stump and Aamir's direct hit sent Vivek to the pavilion! Kalpesh and Naveed kept it going until Aamir's accurate bowling see them short of 5 runs.

Match 2 : 7-P ; 12-Overs

Naveed XI: 64/3 (12 Overs) Ranjan 18* Bala 2W
Mukund XI: 58/6 (12 Overs) Naveen 26* Nathan 2W Naveed 2W
Result: Naveed XI won by 6 runs

Report:
Naveed won the toss and opted to bat this time. Kalpesh and Ranjan raced away in the first couple of overs. Bala's leg cutters put pressure on them, but they scored a decent 64 in 12 overs.
Aamir and Subu opened the chase. Nathan's dolly sparked Aamir's eyes to see only Naveed at deep square leg boundary. They ended up 17/5 in 5 overs, with no further hope and facing a big margin defeat, Naveen and Bala revived the chase with some clean hitting and quick singles. Too many dot balls costed them the match and they ended up 7 short of the target.

Match 3 : 7-P ; 12-Overs

Naveed XI: 56/4 (12 Overs) Vivek 11 Kalpesh 11 Ranjan 18* Aamir 2W
Mukund XI: 41 all out (8.5 Overs) Naveen 18 Subu 15 Siva 3W
Result: Naveed XI won by 15 runs

Report:
Naveed won the toss and opted to bat. Anil and Vivek opened the innings and struggled against Bala and Aamir. Vivek hit to deep mid-wicket boundary to see Naveen plucked a one-handed catch out of a sixer. Nathan, Ranjan and Kalpesh batted sensibly to score 56 in 12 overs.
Aamir and Subu opened the chase. Aamir hoicked Ranjan's outside off delivery straight to the Vivek who was place for this shot at an unconventional field placing between deep mid-off and deep cover. Subu's sensible batting and Naveen's ferocious hits got the team to 31/1 in 5.2 overs and all hell broke loose in a Siva's over - Mukund top edged a wide one on the leg to the keeper, Subu edged on the off to the keeper and Bala misread the turn and saw the sticks shattered to a beautiful leg cutter.

Match 4 : 5+1P ; 8-Overs

Subu XI: 43/4 (8 Overs) Vivek 27*
Rajesh XI: 44/2 (7.4 Overs) Naveed 14* Bala 10* Naveen 10*
Result: Rajesh XI won by 4 wickets with 2 balls left

Report:
As some players left after the award ceremony, teams are reshuffled and include the guest photographer Aditya as a common player.
Subu won the toss and elected to bat first. Subu XI kept losing wickets but the lone wolf Vivek didn't budge till the end, hitting two sixes off Rajesh.
Naveed, Bala and Naveen chased the target with calculated ease.

Series Result :
Naveed XI Win 2-1
Rajesh XI Win 1-0

Date & Time :  30th Oct 2010 : 8-30 AM To 11-15 AM  : Play-Day No 33

Pitch & Conditions : A Freezing Cold and Breezy Morning at -1C ..Went Up to 5C. A Wet Smooth Pitch , good bounce. Outfield Wet & Heavy. Max of 10 Players.

Teams

Anil c
Swagat
Marut
Rajesh
Naveen (M2 & M3)

Naveed c
Ranjan
Nathan
Kalpesh
Mukund

Match 1 : 4+1-P ; 9-Overs

Anil XI : 57/4 (9 Overs) Rajesh 28* Nathan,Naveed,Mukund 1W
Naveed XI: 51/4 (9 Overs) Nathan 20* Naveed 15 Kalpesh 2W
Result : Anil XI won by 6 runs

Report:
Anil won the toss and elected to bat. Swagat and Marut started decently by picking 1's and 2's until a Nathan's throw caught Marut short of his crease. Rajesh and Anil dealt in 3's. Rajesh went berserk moved the score from 30/2 in 6 overs to 57/4 in 9 overs including a 6 & 4 in the last over.
Kalpesh and Naveed opened the chase with a similar kind of hitting, scored 21/0 in 2 overs. From there, they lost the plot and left Nathan stranded at one ended. Nathan battled as an one man army till the end but scored in singles. Rajesh & Marut bowled to Nathan's strength outside off, due to heavy outfield, every shot got him only 1D behind the cover fence.

Match 2 : 5-P ; 9-Overs

Anil XI : 42/4 (9 Overs) Naveen 34* Naveed 2W
Naveed XI: 30 all out (6 Overs) Nathan 10 Swagat,Marut,Naveen,Anil 1W
Result : Anil XI won by 12 runs and 3 overs left

Report:
Anil won the toss and elected to bat. Naveed bowled a terrific maiden over in which he accounted Anil and Swagat for a duck. They scored 5/3 in 3 overs and 17/4 in 5.1 overs. Naveen as a last man took full toll of the dropped catches and missed run outs. Naveen defended and popped a Ranjan's delivery, ball fell an inche short of the short-cover Mukund, batsman was way out of his crease, an easy throw to the keeper could have done the job, Mukund not trusting his infamous wide-throws, wanted to take the bails off by himself and almost did. Fielders were inconclusive of the runout, with no UDRS!, benefit of the doubt went to the batsman.
Ranjan and Nathan opened the chase. Swagat and Anil bowled well to restrict them and put pressure. Naveed XI caved in easily despite Naveed promising everybody that he won't play the reverse sweep given the situation his team is in, violated his promise and lost the middle stump to a Naveen's full and straight deleivery.

Match 3 : 3+1-P ; 7-Overs

Naveed XI: 30 all out (6.4 Overs) Anil 12 Swagat 2W
Naveen XI : 17 all out (6.1 Overs) Swagat 12 Mukund 2W
Result : Naveed XI won by 13 runs and 5 balls left

Report:
Naveed won the toss and elected to bat. With only 7 players, runs were allowed only in front of two edges of the fence. Naveed and Mukund went early. Nathan and Anil(common) revived the scoring. Rajesh's throw(direct hit) from deep midwicket caught Nathan Off-guard on his second run.
Chasing an easy 31 in 7 overs, Rajesh lost his leg stump for a Naveed's scorching yorker off the first ball, Naveen mistimed off Mukund, Anil hit straight to Rajesh at mid-on. Swagat's little cameo ended when he misjudged Mukund's full toss to see his leg stump uprooted.

Series Result :
Anil XI Win 2-1
Consistent Batsman of the Day: Nathan
Consistent Bowler of the Day: Swagat

Match 1 : 5-P ; 10-Overs

Siva XI : 33/3 (10 Overs) Mukund 16* Kalpesh 1W
Ranjan XI: 25 all out (6.1 overs) Naveen 8 Mukund 3W
Result : Siva XI won by 8 runs and 3.5 overs left

Report:
Siva won the toss and chose to bat. There were only a total of 6 players who braved the cold and freezing wind. Naveed sent to open, couldn't measure the spongy pitch and Kalpesh's swing, struggled two balls and edged the third to wide of keeper Subu, who took a spectacular reflex catch. 4 more brave soldiers joined the field in the 2nd over. It took few overs to realize that it is going to be a bowlers pitch as Vivek kept swinging and missing the balls which raised to half of his expectations. At the end of the 6th over Siva XI was 19/2. Mukund and Subu ticked the score with singles and posted a paltry 34 to chase.
Naveen and Anil opened the chase and started collecting singles easily. 13/1 in 3 overs was decent for this pitch and Ranjan XI is expected to chase this out. But it is a slow bowlers paradise. Mukund (4th over) "hurled" twice to peg leg and middle stumps of Naveen and Ranjan. Siva bowled a slower one that decieved Rajesh in the flight and popped to short leg. 25/4 in 5 overs. Kalpesh, the last batsman was determined to keep Naveed's over out of his stumps and defended tirelessly to give a maiden. Kalpesh want to score 9 in 4 overs, Mukund looking for a spongy spot on the pitch, pitched on the hard surface, ball kicked up and caught Kalpesh in two minds and he decided to cut it. But it was too late and close to his body, the ball caressed the bat and went straight to the safe hands of Subu.

Match 2 : 5-P ; 10-Overs

Siva XI : 46/3 (10 Overs) Vivek 20* Mukund 13* Naveen 2W
Ranjan XI: 33 all out (7.3 overs) Ranjan 16  Vivek,Naveed,Mukund 1W
Result : Siva XI won by 13 runs and 2.3 overs left

Report:
Siva won the toss and chose to bat. Vivek and Subu opened the innings with caution, scoring 11 in 4 overs. Secured the wickets for a late surge with 28/0 in 7 overs. The late surge did come up with the cost of 3 wickets in the span of 9 balls. Naveen bowled stump to stump and denied any scoring opportunities. Vivek and Mukund pulled up some 2's and Vivek took a full toll on Rajesh's last over to post 46 in 10 overs.
Ranjan and Rajesh opened the chase, struggled with the pace and height of the ball, cautiosly poked around for couple of overs. Rajesh's vigil ended when Mukund sent a low-straighter one to the middle stump. Vivek realised the pitch is aiding slow bowling, switched to his old way of ripping spin bowling. That over was mesmerising as there is no way to touch the ball when it is pitched on middle, gripped, turned to off and bounced on its way over keeper's (Mukund) head every time. But Ranjan kept playing his shots and looked promising. As with the previous match, Ranjan XI was in a relatively strong position (30/1 in 5 overs). But lost wickets in clusters including two suicidal run outs in a similar fashion, driven straight to Rajesh at the mid wicket who is the best fielder, strong arms and accurate throw made the runouts easy.

Match 3 : 5-P ; 10-Overs

Anil XI: 35 all out (8.5 overs) Naveen 17 Abhay 14 Naveed 2W Mukund 2W
Siva XI : 37/4 (9.1 overs) Vivek 27* Anil,Kalpesh,Rajesh 1W
Result : Siva XI won by a wicket with 5 balls left.

Report:
Anil won the toss, wanted to change the tide and chose to bat. Abhay and Anil opened and collected 7 in the first over off Siva. Naveed bowled Anil with a leg cutter in the second over but Naveen and Abhay had a solid partnership until 6.5 overs for 21/1. As they did before, they lost wickets in clusters which included a jumping-knee-catch of Vivek at mid-off. Anil XI posted 35 in 8.5 overs.
Chasing a tricky 3.6 per over, Vivek and Siva played safe (10 in 4 overs) until a misjudged Vivek's call behind the wicket costed Siva's wicket. Anil getting all the balls right but not getting the reward for the effort was eyeing for that 50th wicket, bowled the one that turned to leg instead of his usual off-turn, Mukund played to dug that out played with soft hands, the unexpected bounce hit the higher in the handle, fell on his tummy and exactly on the bails. Subu and Naveed's little cameo didn't work this time. But Vivek was rock solid and cut twice to cover boundary off Kalpesh and a ferocious pull off Rajesh gave the whitewash finish.

Series Result :
Siva XI Win 3-0
