8/27/2011
Venue : Hedden Park
Pitch conditions: Damp ground from an overnight rainfall, slightly overcast conditions, no sun , very slow and wet out field.
Even though mega hurricane Irene was on the doorstep – Brave Blazing Jaguars cricketers showed themselves on the ground at sharp 7.30AM
Teams :
Led by the experienced Captain Cool Mukund, Team A formed a formidable line up consisting of Parijat (all rounder) , Marut ( leg spinner) , Ripal Patel ( off spinner, all rounder) , Vipul Patel ( allrounder, Gujarat state player and fast bowler with Glen Mcgrath accuracy) , Mahendra ( fast bowler and hard hitting batsman)
Team B led by highly committed Shiva consisted of Nathan ( All-rounder and fast bowler) , Anil (experienced leg spinner), Mahesh (all rounder), Kinjal ( Spinner, la David Boon physique), and Mangesh (All-rounder)
13 yr old prodigy (Shrey) was common, son of Vipul Patel
Match 1 (10 over game)
Mukund won the toss and as usual lit up his cigarette and sat on the bench indicating that his team is batting.
Team A opened with Mahendra and Ripal and Nathan bowled the first over conceding 4 runs, Anil started his first over and was hit for 4 runs by Ripal but got his redemption by clean bowling Ripal on his second ball. PJ replaced Ripal and hit Anil for a 4, the rest of the over was un eventful with Anil conceding 10 of his first over for a wicket.  Mahendra  and PJ Played steadily hitting Shiva for 5 runs, Mahesh for 4 runs, kinjal for 9 runs and Mangesh for 4 runs. Both Retired ( Mahendra at 12 and PJ at 20)  to give their fellow mates a chance to have a go at Shiva’s bowlers. This pair was followed by Vipul and captain cool Mukund , Vipul showed signs of his past experience by his hard hitting and by milking the bowling for singles . Nathan removed Mukund by bowling a wide ball on the leg side which Mukund tried to hit but directed it towards his leg stump. But Vipul creamed a 4 of Nathans last over which costed him 10 runs. Marut replaced Mukund but Anil gave a miserly 4 runs in the second last over. Mangesh bowled the last over and took the wicket of Shrey and kept the total to 58 by giving only 3 runs.
Top scorers : PJ 20 runs unbeaten,  Vipul 13 runs and Mahendra 12 runs unbeaten
Match 1 part 2 ( 59 to win)
Team B opened their chase with Mangesh and Shiva and faced Mukund, Mukund removed Shiva caught by Mahesh and gave 2 runs. Parijat bowled the 2 over and gave only 5 runs with a 4  hit by Mangesh that could have been a catch. Mahesh who had replaced Shiva took on Marut by taking 10 runs in his over but was clean bowled on the last ball by Marut’s specaility a slow death by torture ball. Vipul bowled the fourth over and his accuracy was evident by his constant pitching in the same area . Mangesh went for a cheeky run but ended by running out Kinjal in that over. Vipul conceded only 1 run in his over. Ripal followed Vipul and Mangesh hit him for a 6 down the off side and took 11 of his over. Mahendra returned for his second over and gave 5 runs. Nathan took on captain cool to the cleaners hitting him for a 6 of a no ball, and he and Mangesh extracted 15 runs in that over to reach at 49 in 7 overs. The young prodigy Shrey bowled the third over (let me explains you how he bowls – his start up is almost as long a Naveed and has a very good high arm action with pretty good accuracy he looks small but really troubled a lot of batsmen. ) He gave 5 runs in his first over. Marut and Vipul were playing good till Vipuls inning was cut short by a direct through run out by Shiva when he was on 8. Anil removed Mahendra for a duck when he slogged Anil to be caught by Nathan, Nathan Clean bowled Mukund and got the wicket of Marut. Shails inning was stopped by Mangesh who had him caught by wicket keeper Mahendra for 4, Abhay was last man standing and was run out by his other end running partner in the 9th over.

Top wicket takers: Kinjal 2, 2 run outs, Nathan and Mangesh 1 each
With only 33 runs to chase a team B opened with Kinjal and Shrey . Mukund removed kinjal and Abhay removed Shrey , Vipul bowled and excellent 5 over and only 8 runs were scored in 5 overs. Mahendra removed Anil caught Ripal  and PJ bowled Shiva. With scoreboard at 17/7 overs. Mangesh and Mahesh continued the chase before Mangesh retired after scoring 8 runs with team needing 7-8 in 3 overs. Team A was not ready to give up the fight and PJ removed Mahesh and Nathan in the 11 over with scores tied at 32 . Mangesh joined Abhay in the last over and Abhay hit the winning run off the 4 ball of the 12 over.
Team A showed a lot of fight defending their small total and took the match to the 12 over.
Top scorers : Mangesh 8 unbeaten, Anil 6 and Shiva 4,

Team A : Mukund (C), Mahendra, PJ, Vipul, Shail, Marut, Ripal,
Team B:  Shiva (C ), Kinjal, Shrey, Anil, Mangesh , Mahesh, Nathan
Common Abhay
Toss : As usual Mukund wins and lits up his half smoked cigarette from the second match again sits on the bench and Shiva’s team quietly walks and takes up their field positions.
A determined team A opens with Mahendra and PJ who play safe and solid getting 27 runs in 5 overs (hitting Abhay for 8 runs, Nathan for 3, Mangesh for 4 runs, Kinjal for 6  and Mahesh for 6 runs). PJ retires and Vipul replaces him  after 5 overs but is run out by Shiva for a duck, Shiva also removes the in form Mahendra who was caught by wicket keeper Mahesh – the ball bounced of his gloves and he juggled with the catch for 6 more bounces  before finally catching it. Shrey bowled the 8 over and whadda player / bowler as boycott would call him . he troubles Mukund and almost has him caught behind – but somehow survives, he gets Ripal caught by wk  Mahesh  and Mukund is run out in the over. Shrey gave only 3 runs and inflicted 2 wickets. Shail and Marut continued till Marut was run out and along with Abhay set a target of 58 to win

BJCC Match-Report : 6th-Aug-2011: Weekend No 17

6-Aug-2011 : Cloudy with a very good breeze. Almost perfect weather

We had a good turnout around 12-13

Dont forget to check out the videos . Somehow i missed them last week

Match1 12 overs per side
TeamA: PJ(Captain),Kalpesh,Mukund,Vivek,Naveed,Marut
Team B: Mangesh(Captain),Aamir,Siva,Ranjan,Nathan,Swagat
Abhay was common in this game
Team A: 57/6 in 12 overs
Team B:58/2 in 10.4 overs

PJ won the toss and decided to bat first and opened with Kalpesh and Mukund. Swagat and Aamir opened the bowling. Mukund keeping up the traiditon of not scoring when in same team as Naveed of course was out in the first over after making only 2. PJ  came one down and him and Kalpesh took the score steadily to 14 in 4 overs before Kalpesh was run out by a direct hit from Aamir(One of the few he had today) . Then Vivek and PJ formed a good partnership and took the score to 30 before he was bowled by Swagat. Vivek was eventually run out for 16 also but all of team A batsman kept chipping in to take the score to decent 57 in 12 overs.

Mangesh  opened with Aamir and Siva with Naveed and Kalpesh opening the bowling. The start was slow with 4 in 2 overs and then in the 3rd over, for the first time we had a batsman run out when the bowl deflected bowlers hand and hit the stumps while the batsman was starting to run. Mukund was the bowler and Siva hit a full toss very hard straight. Aamir at non strikers end had started to go down for a run but some how Mukund got a hand on it and it hit the stumps and Aamir was run out. Then Ranjan joined Siva and they formed a very good parnership. Ranjan was caught in the 6th over of Vivek's bowling but then the Captain came in and took over. Mangesh made 19 runs and from there on Team B was never behind and all the batsman supported him and Team A could not get any more wickets. They finished things of in 10.2 overs .So good contribution from Siva but Mangesh was the chief culprit.

Match2 :12 overs per side

TeamA: PJ(Captain),Kalpesh,Abhay ,Vivek,Naveed,Marut
 Team B: Mangesh(Captain),Aamir,Siva,Ranjan,Nathan,Swagat
Mukund eventually was common in this game. Read below for more  fun
Team A: 62/7 in 12 overs
Team B: 64/5 in 11 overs

PJ won the toss and opened the innings with Marut. Ranjan bowled the first over which went for 5 runs. Then Siva  had Marut caught by Aamir in next over and Mukund who came in with a  stern warning from Naveed to make some runs was out again trying to reverse the trend of making runs when in the same team as Naveed but the ball bounced on him and he was caught on the last ball of second over by Siva leaving Siva on a hat-rick for next over.At this stage Mukund became common to have some more batting as he most likely will be out next week but so much for that as you guys will read below. Mukund i am sorry to keep bringing you up but i have to spice up the report somehow you know  and Abhay was now  in batting side. Mangesh bowled the third over which went for seven runs and the score was 14 in 3 overs for the loss of wickets. Kalpesh and PJ were both out to Aamir in next over which was a double wicket maiden to leave Team A reeling. Vivek came in and he and Abhay formed an excellent partnership . Vivek was at his best today hitting a six  also and  they both took the score to 41 in 8 overs before Abhay was caught by Aamir of Nathan bowling in 9th over. Naveed and Vivek put another good  mini Partnership and they took the score to a very fighting 62 in 12 overs with Vivek top scoring  at 24 . Also  Siva hat-rick ball was kept away with Mukund like defense

Team B opened with Aamir and Swagat. 8 runs came of the first two overs. And then Kalpesh did a Naveed by bowling a 10 ball over with plenty of wides. Aamir and Swagat never looked back after that and they took the score to 29 in 5 overs without loosing a wicket. When one of them declared, there was no respite for Team A only as Ranjan came  in and hit a hard hitting 11 with  his first two scoring shots being 4s , and Team B was well on its way with 59 in 8 overs and they only lost two wickets that of Ranjan and Mangesh who was out for a duck.  So they just needed 5 more in 4 overs easy right with plenty of wickets in hand but not to be. Field was brought in and that's it , tension could be seen all over Team B's face. Mangesh this is  a joke ok so don't mind
But Vivek bowled the next over which was  a wicket maiden and he got Nathan out. Then in the 10th over PJ came in to bowl and bowled an excellent over which was a double wicket Maiden getting rid of Siva and  Ranjan So two maiden overs with three wickets. Then Aamir came in and Joined Mukund. Marut bowled the next over. and only one run came of the first three balls. On the fourth ball he got the wicket of Mukund for a duck again, Sorry Mukund but i guess this is some sort of a King Pair may be. So now Swagat also had to come back and three more runs to get but only two wickets left. But in the end Aamir and Swagat finished it off rightly so after they formed an excellent opening partnership.
So excellent bowling towards the end by Vivek, PJ and Marut but Team B pulled of another good chase

Match 3 : 8 overs per side
Some players left so teams for Match 3 were
Team A: Kalpesh(Captain),Vivek,Naveed,Mukund,Abhay
Team B: Mangesh(Captain),Swagat, Aamir, Nathan, Ranjan
Siva was common as he had to leave early

Team B finally won the toss and decided to bat They opened with Aamir and Siva,. Naveed opened the bowling and this again was Naveed/Aamir offside attempted yorker show for the first over. Naveed refusing to take field on offside square boundary and Aamir was in full flow hitting three attempted yorkers for three consecutive fours there. 14 runs came of the first over. Siva and Aamir were in full flow taking 37 of first 4 overs. So a score of around 60-70 looked on cards.  But then probably the best four over spell of the season may be was bowled by three bowlers . Vivek came in to bowl the 5th over and got rid of i think Nathan and Ranjan and in that over. while giving away only two runs. Swagat and Mangesh came in . Kalpesh came in to bowl the 6th over and he got rid of Captain for a duck and gave away again only two runs. Vivek came back to bowl the 7th over and this was  a wicket maiden. He bowed Aamir  after he made 21 . Mukund bowled the next over and he got rid of Siva while giving away only 3 runs. So again this was excellent bowling by these three. 37 in 4 overs and then only 7 in next 4 overs. Very good stuff. The final score was 44 in 8 overs

Team A opened with Vivek and Siva. Swagat opened the bowling with an excellent over giving away only two runs. 15 runs came of next two overs with Siva hitting two fours. Score was 17 in three overs. Siva fell in the third over and Abhay came in. Then there were two run outs. Vivek attempting a risky double  was run out and Abhay was also run out.
Mukund and Naveed joined . 5th over was taken for 11 runs being bowled by Mangesh and the score was 32 in 5 overs. Aamir bowled and excellent 6th over which was a wicket maiden including the wicket of Mukund.Still 13 needed of the last two overs. Swagat came in who had a terrific all around day  and he bowled a superb over, bowling both Naveed and Kalpesh of consecutive balls  to finish things of in style clean sweeping Team A.  Guys looks like Swagat is on hat-rick after coming back from Vacation right? or it does not count in the next match?

So Team B wins the series 3-0 .

Batsman dominated again for most part but in between there was some excellent overs bowled  by Vivek, Swagat,Aamir,Marut,PJ,Kalpesh,Mukund
Special Performance of the Day: None( Like i said this is not how well you bat, bowl or field but some guest appearance or something else to cheer all up)
Vivek, Aamir,  , Swagat, all had excellent all around days specially Vivek was superb.
Ranjan continues his hard hitting form. Not making ton of runs but contributing in all games
And then of Course. The 4 over spell  by Kalpesh, Vivek and Mukund led by Vivek . I mean 37 in 4  and 7 in next 4. Excellent
Anil was out. He is excused though.
Naveen and Bala looks like we might have to advertise for them to make sure they are not missing somewhere
Shail was out also today. Motilal , Jaikumar, Kanan  also out
Swagat is flying to India this week. Have a nice and Safe Trip.
And then this week there are three S.Akhtar videos because i missed last week which was a crime of course by me

This was his IPL debut. Of Course he played only a few games i think. Perfect Stage set for him. Big Ground, Big Crowd. His Coach had said in the media, he may not be fit enough . KKR desperately needed a win. They bat first and only make 131 i think . And Sehwag and Gambhir are opening the innings and he has them 28/4 in no time.   This is my Favorite IPL moment for sure . Oh man i wish somehow he could come back from retirement and play again.
