Report for 6/11/11
Pleasant Valley Park Basking Ridge ( Rte 287 Exit 26)
Conditions, Cloudy with a little dirzzle, perfect conditions for playing, outfield slow
So this was our first day at the new ground and in putting in one word would be Batsman Paradise. The ground is maintained by the township so the field is rolled we think
It is a flat pitch with no uneven bounce like Heden Park until batsman footholes create some sort of uneven bounce but still very flat and straight
You have both options to play with 8 with almost the same setup as Heden Park or play full when 15-18 people are there
First time BJCC players played in front of a little crowd. For those that did not show up have to wait till the next time on who the crowd was
Teams for First Game:
Marut(Captain), Naveed, Mangesh,MehulJr,Naveen
Kalpesh(Captain),Vivek,Siva, Shail,Aaksh Jr with Anirudh Jr common
Teams for second and third game
TeamA Marurt(Captain), Ranjan, Aamir, Naveed, Naveen, AnirudhJr, AkashJr
Team B Kalpesh(Captain), Vivek,Siva, Shail,Sachin, Mangesh , MehulJr
Since NBA finals are going on if i were to describe it in that mold, basically TeamA was Miami and TeamB was Dallas. Team A had Lebron and Wade ( Ranjan, Aamir) and
TeamB was Dallas with Dirk( Vivek) and plenty of other very good players and i hope tomorrow night the same scenario plays out in the Finals game 6 that happened today with the games. Team A should have dominated but somehow TeamB always kept coming back after looking like they were done and in the end win the very close series just like i hope Dallas will tomorrow
First Game
Kalpesh XI 31/3 in 8 tie MarutXI 31/4 in 8 overs
In this match it was raining so score sheet is not that clear and not all bowling stats kept from this match. Whatever i could gather because for a little while we did not even write everything
Kalpesh won the toss and decided to bat first and sent opened the innings with local boy Vivek. They were steady and Kalpesh fell in the third over to Mangesh with 9 on board. Then Shail batted with Vivek and scored at steady rate . Since it was first innings on the ground both batting and bowling was steady and Vivek and Shail guided the team to 32 in 8 overs
Marut XI opened the innings with Mehul Jr and Marut. Marut was the mainstay and was steady and did bulk of scoring with Mehul and then Mangesh.
Mangesh fell with still around 15-20 to get i think . Naveed fell for duck to Kalpesh and then Marut and Naveen were left.
Akhtar who loves playing in front of a crowd then hit 2 fours in one over to revive the innings but him and Marut who remained not out with 15 could not finish the job totally and in the last over the game was tied.Siva bowled the last over i think. Again it was raining and score sheet not that clear and complete so we dont know how many runs were needed and other details but Marut was the Mainstay and Akhtar in the end was pumped up to see the crowd and performed . So a good steady first game
Second Game
Rain stopped and it was beautiful weather after that
Kalpesh XI 58/4 in 10 overs beat MarutXI 49 all out 9.3 overs by 9 runs
Kalpesh won the toss and batted firtst. Siva and Shail opened the innings and were steady guided the score to 14 in 4 overs. They retired and Sachin Tendulkur made his debut at BJCC. (So now we have Sachin and Shoaib in BJCC. What a battle . And this Sachin is no nonsense hit out batsman so it would be good to see Akhtar bowling to Sachin and Sachin trying to hit the ball for 6 all the time. Sachin bowls left handed though at BJCC but of course bats right handed)
Marut got Sachin to get first wicket for his team and then Mangesh also fell to Naveen with score at 31 in 7 overs. Vivek and Kalpesh then joined for the last three overs and Vivek simply took off. He took 16 in the last over of Marut to take the score to 57 hitting two sixes and a four .Marut got him out caught by Mehul Jr( Future looking good for next generation BJCC, all junior players playing with great energy ) All bowlers at this ground for sure will get a thrashing at some point in the future no doubt .Flat Pitch specially when wet after a little rain has not much pace and bounce in it.
Marut opened with Aamir and Ranjan . Aamir opened with a 6 of Mangesh to point and this is where it totally fell like Team B was done. James and Wade were dominating Dallas Siva got Aamir in the third over but score was 30 in 4 overs with another 6. Marut Joined Ranjan and again was very solid with Ranjan. Score reached 42 in six overs with only one wicket down.
Marut and Ranjan retired and then Naveen and Naveen came in. Naveed fell for a duck and Ranjan keeping with his tradition of getting out as soon he comes back after retiring also got out next ball. And all of a sudden in the next 2.3 overs the whole team was out with Naveen run out and Vivek bowled by Marut.
Team B was looking for Juniors to finish the chase but they also fell at the end
Third Game
Marut XI 61/6 in 10 overs tie Kalpesh XI 61/6 in 10 overs
Marut batted first and MarutXI opened with Aamir and Ranjan again and same story again as game two. They raced to 28 in 3 ( 8 10 10 ) and again looked like Dallas is done
But Siva again got Aamir ( again!) this time caught on the boundary by Naveed which looked like going for a 6 : in the fourth over. Ranjan was at his best with a hard hitting 30 and took the score to 52 in 7 overs.Akhtar fell cheaply because the crowd was gone by then and Akhtar performs in front of crowds usually. Marut came in and Anirudh Junior took easily the catch of the day . A splendid catch to dismiss Marut at covers( The Junior squad looks very good ) Ranjan retired this time also and i keep using this word again but its right as soon as he came back got out immediately .
Either no more retirements for Him after this or batsman coming after him should not get out
.Mangesh bowling the last over got Marut and Ranjan in two balls and Naveed avoided the hatrick ball and third duck of the day but Mangesh only gave 2 runs in last over to keep the score to 61
Kalpesh opened with Sachin and Siva and were steady with 16 in 4 overs for the loss of one wicket. Shail fell for one bowled by Ranjan and things did not look that great but
Siva who is in very good form was joined by Vivek and took the score to 37 in 7 overs. Siva retired and Mangesh looked good also for his little cameo before Naveen bowled him
Kalpesh was run out and It was 44 in 8 overs and Siva Came back. 18 needed to Win and 17 to tie.Vivek took 9 of Ranjan over which included a six and 8 were needed of the last over with Vivek and Siva. Marut got Vivek first ball , Siva hit a four of next and then Mehul was run out by Dad on third ball. Now 5 needed of 3 balls to win, 4th ball was dot, but Siva took two 2s to tie the game again . Both Marut and Siva were excellent with bat and ball in the over and tie proves that.
So just like that Kalpesh XI won the series 1-0 with two ties
